For the SlopRadar Chrome extension.
Slop classification is 100% on-device (Gemini Nano) — post text never leaves your browser, and we run no analytics or tracking. A few optional, disclosed features do make network requests (public Reddit author lookups under your own session, stock prices for premium Market Watch, and the opt-in referral program, the only thing that ever talks to our server). Everything is detailed below; nothing is omitted.
SlopRadar classifies social-media posts on your device using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model. We (the developer) operate no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising, and we never sell or share your data. The core slop-detection feature sends no post text over the network. However, some features do make network requests to third-party services or (for the opt-in referral program) to our own server, and one optional feature uses your location. This policy describes everything the extension collects, how it is used and stored, and with whom it is shared. Nothing is omitted.
To detect AI-generated "slop," SlopRadar reads the text of posts in your feed on the supported sites (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Reddit, and Threads) and classifies each post using Chrome's on-device Gemini Nano model. This classification runs entirely on your device. Post text is never sent to the developer or to any server by the classifier.
To judge whether a Reddit post's author looks like a bot or marketing account, the extension fetches that author's public Reddit profile and recent public activity directly from reddit.com (e.g. /user/<name>/about.json). These requests are made from your browser using your existing Reddit session (cookies), because unauthenticated requests are blocked by Reddit. This means Reddit receives these requests under your account and IP address, the same as when you browse Reddit normally. Only the public username being looked up is included in the request; no other data is sent. Results are cached briefly on your device and are not transmitted anywhere else.
If you enable the Market Watch feature, the extension captures the text, author name, and metadata of posts in your feeds and stores them locally on your device so it can build trend and authenticity reports. This captured content is never uploaded. Market Watch also fetches stock price data for ticker symbols from Yahoo Finance (query1/query2.finance.yahoo.com) and Stooq (stooq.com); only the ticker symbol and date range are sent, without cookies or identifiers. Those services see your IP address, as with any web request.
If you click "Use my location," the browser asks for your permission and, if granted, provides your coordinates once to the extension. The coordinates are mapped to the nearest city using a gazetteer bundled inside the extension — they are never sent over the network. Only the resulting city name and country code are stored locally. You can instead type a city by hand, and you can clear it at any time. If you never use this control, no location data is accessed.
The referral feature ("refer 5 friends, get a free month of Pro") is the only part of SlopRadar that talks to our own server (featureboard.ai). It activates only if you opt in by creating a referral link or entering a friend's invite code. What is sent:
No browsing data, no post text, and no settings are ever sent to us.
Your settings (display mode, confidence threshold, theme, excluded sites), your custom and learned detection patterns, short text fingerprints created when you right-click a post to flag it, aggregate counters for the stats panel, and a rolling local debug log are all stored only on your device.
Some features (e.g. reply/comment scanning, Market Watch) require a paid SlopRadar Pro license. Purchases happen entirely on our website (featureboard.ai) with Polar as the merchant of record — the extension never sees or handles any payment information. Your license key arrives by email; when you paste it into the extension's settings, it is verified cryptographically on your device and stored in local extension storage. The extension performs no online license checks and never contacts a server to validate, renew, or report on your license.
All extension data listed above is stored in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. It is retained until you clear it in the extension's settings or uninstall the extension; uninstalling removes it. Report exports you explicitly save are written to files you choose on your own computer. On our server, referral records (install id, code, progress) are kept only as long as needed to operate the referral program; you can request deletion at the contact address below.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or analytics. The only parties that receive any data as a result of using SlopRadar are:
Data held by the extension lives inside Chrome's sandboxed extension storage on your device. Requests to the referral server and market-data providers use HTTPS.
SlopRadar is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We will update this document and its "Last updated" date whenever data practices change, and material changes will be noted in the release notes.
