What changed in each version of nativebim-mcp, newest at the top. The server carries the same notes: ask the assistant for bim_versions.
Rendered from packages/mcp/CHANGELOG.md with the parser bim_versions uses. A version is listed here when its section is in that file; unreleased work is not.

bim_edit adds floor slabs. addSlab makes a slab from its corner points and a thickness, its top at the story level (or an elevation above it), contained in the story; with addWall and addSpace, an added room gets its own floor in the same edit. Columns, stories and grids cannot be created yet.

bim_edit builds walls and rooms. addWall adds a straight wall from a start point to an end point with a thickness and height, contained in its story and optionally marked as an outside wall; addSpace adds a room from its corner points, with a number and a name. A door or window can go into a wall added earlier in the same edit, so a room, its walls and its doors are one edit that bim_undo reverses. Slabs, columns, stories and grids cannot be created yet.
bim_edit setAttribute writes enumeration values: setting a door's OperationType to SLIDING_TO_LEFT, or a slab's PredefinedType, was refused as the wrong type. A value outside the list is refused with the allowed values.

NativeBIM is licensed like NativeCAD. Non-commercial use is free with a free key, and commercial use needs the NativeCAD MCP / Modeler seat, which now includes NativeBIM; see LICENSE and COMMERCIAL.md, now shipped with every build. Keys issued from 2026-10-25 carry the NativeBIM entitlement; an older NativeCAD key runs NativeBIM as an evaluation.
bim_drawing draws a story's floor plan on an ARCH D sheet with a title block and a NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION banner, written as PDF, SVG or both. The portland-esubmittal profile names the file the way ProjectDox expects and reports seven sheet checks; a sheet that fails the drawing lint is refused with each finding named and nothing written. Sheets are drafts for the licensed professional of record. Area plans, schedules, DXF and other sheet sizes are refused by name.
bim_repair fixes the faults bim_check finds in a model. It covers dangling references, missing, invalid or duplicate GlobalIds, a missing IFC2X3 owner history, empty representations, elements outside every story, orphaned spatial elements, non-orthogonal placements, wrongly wound faceted shells and duplicate property names or property sets. It previews by default, commits exactly that preview, and bim_undo reverses it; a fix that would be a guess is listed as unfixable with the reason.
bim_check checks "clash": hard and clearance clashes between two sets of elements, one issue per group of repeated clashes, with the clashing elements and the depth or gap of each; bim_export bcf writes them as BCF topics with a viewpoint per clash.
bim_quantities measures the volume of NURBS solids (IfcAdvancedBrep with surface-curve edges), and warns with NB_QTY_VOLUME_OPEN_BODY when a body is not a closed surface, so its volume is not well defined.
bim_edit's full set of edits, which 0.1.1 already had: besides properties, attributes and deletes, it moves and copies elements, sets their type, story, material and classification, and adds, moves, resizes and removes doors, windows and openings. Walls, slabs, columns, spaces, stories and grids cannot be created yet.
bim_drawing's description no longer lists area plans, schedules and DXF, which it refuses.

bim_quantities takes a figure from the authoring tool's own quantity properties (a dimensions property set such as PSet_Revit_Dimensions, the GSA space area) when the file has no Qto set, says so as "exporter" in data.method, and ignores a stated zero. New measures: thickness, perimeter, grossVolume. compare:true adds data.agreement, how far the file's figures and the geometry are apart per measure, with the worst element.
bim_summary counts the model's storeys in its summary line even when include leaves out the storeys section (it said "on 0 storeys"), and counts.byClass no longer lists IfcSpace, so it adds up to counts.elements and matches bim_open.
Self-update checks again every 6 hours while the server keeps running, instead of once per process, and the manifest cache lasts 6 hours instead of 24, so a new release reaches running installs the same day.

Serves the MCP protocol on stdio. The tool registry refuses to start with a tool that has no title, annotations or help pointer, a description over 393 bytes, or an open argument schema.
Handles carry a per-process epoch, so a handle from before a restart is refused with NB_HANDLE_STALE instead of pointing at the wrong model.
Long calls become jobs that survive a restart as records: bim_job_status, bim_job_result and bim_job_cancel.
bim_help gives the full reference for each tool (arguments, examples, errors) and seven topics: overview, conventions, units, handles, jobs, errors and safety.
bim_server_info reports the version, build, kernel presence, licence tier, update and telemetry state, session and job counts and limits, and runs a self-test that parses a small built-in IFC file.
bim_versions lists these notes and says whether a newer version is known.
bim_license shows the licence state and activates a key. Keys are checked offline.
bim_report_bug files a bug report. Paths, file names, e-mail addresses, GlobalIds, IFC records, licence keys and the names of the open models and of this machine are replaced by pattern before anything is stored or sent. The patterns can miss a value, so do not put model content or prompts in a report. Unexpected internal errors are reported without a call, as a fingerprint with no message and no values, unless failure reports are turned off.
bim_settings sets the update mode and channel and the telemetry and failure-report switches, and checks for or installs an update on request.
Updates are signed, can be staged by channel and percentage, can be halted by the publisher, and roll back after three failed starts. Releases are signed with the NativeBIM release key (key id 456b2ed1be2e911c); a release signed with any other key is never installed.
The model tools: bim_open reads IFC2X3, IFC4 and IFC4X3 files (.ifc, .ifczip) and .rvt or .rfa files as metadata only; bim_summary, bim_query and bim_get answer with the GlobalId of every element they name; bim_quantities says whether each figure came from the file's quantity sets, its attributes or the geometry; bim_check evaluates the schema rules and completeness lints, or an IDS file.
bim_edit previews a batch of property, attribute and delete edits, then commits exactly that preview; bim_undo and bim_history follow the edits. bim_export writes IFC (IFC4 by default, migrated from IFC2X3 when needed and checked before writing), ifcZIP, glb and CSV or XLSX schedules, and never replaces a file. Exports need a licence key.
On Windows, closing the server no longer ends it with a crash code while a network check is still finishing.
Daily usage counts and failure reports each have an off switch. Models, file names, paths and prompts are never part of them. docs/PRIVACY.md lists every field.
Release files
Release files and the signed manifest that the update check reads will be published beside this page at the beta. Each release is signed, the kernel inside it is pinned by sha256, and an update rolls back after three failed starts.
Notices
NativeBIM is licensed software. It does not provide design, engineering or other professional services. Outputs are drafts for review by the licensed professional of record.
Sheets are marked NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION by default.
Telemetry (usage counts and failure reports) never includes models, drawings, file names, paths or prompts. Bug-report text goes through a pattern-based redactor that can miss a value, and a short repro goes with it only if you choose to attach one. NativeBIM sends daily usage counts, automatic failure reports, bug reports and an update check every 6 hours to featureboard.ai; the privacy statement lists every field.
