IFC showcase: Villa La Rotonda (Palladio)
A script-built study after Palladio's Villa La Rotonda: a square block, four six-column Ionic porticoes, a round hall and a low dome. Illustrative, not a survey.
This model is illustrative. It is built from a script with the dimensions listed under Sources, and it does not represent an existing or as-built building.
3D model
The viewer opens villa-rotonda.glb, the glTF that NativeBIM writes from the IFC file. The IFC file is villa-rotonda.ifc.

| Roofs | 6 |
| Columns | 32 |

Requirements
The model does not yet meet every requirement of a dwelling. Each is measured on the model’s geometry by casting rays at it from sample points 0.783 m apart.
| Requirement | What it asks | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Every enclosed area has a floor | Rooms are walked on: an area walls close in at a storey level and nothing to stand on is not a room. | Not yet: 37 of 656 samples fail |
| The interior is closed in | Walls, doors and windows close every interior floor on all sides; a gap in the walls is a hole in the building. | Not yet: 554 of 4585 samples fail |
| Rain from above is kept off every floor | A roof over every floor, with no gaps between its planes, at its hips and valleys, or where it meets a wall. | Not yet: 160 of 5904 samples fail |
| Wind-driven rain does not reach the interior | Rain at 30 degrees from the vertical, from 8 directions, meets the roof or walls before an interior floor. | Met |
| There is a way in | At least one door in the envelope. | Met |

The labels are read from a page transcription whose mapping of numbers to rooms is not certain.. - Vicentine foot taken as 0.357 m. Published estimates run from 0.347 m to 0.357 m, a spread of a few percent, so every figure converted from feet carries that uncertainty.. - Total height, column diameter (0.76 m, so a column nine diameters high), portico spacing, wall thicknesses, window and door sizes, attic height, dome profile and storey build-up. Chosen for this model. No real survey figure is claimed..
- Portico roofs covered in clay tiles (coppi), 30 mm over the roof planes, with a tiled ridge. Chosen for this model from the photographs of the villa, which show tiled roofs. No survey figure is claimed..
