Simple pricing. No feature gates, ever.

NativeCAD (formerly CADSolver) is a zero-dependency JavaScript solid-modeling kernel: STEP (AP242) read/write, B-rep booleans, variable-width edge blends, watertight meshing, and an embeddable browser viewer, written from scratch with no opencascade.js, WASM or native binaries underneath. Every licence below ships the same code. What you license is the right to use or ship it commercially, plus support and updates.

Plans

Prices are per year. One question decides which you need: are you using NativeCAD, or shipping it? Using it is a seat — NativeCAD MCP / Modeler, $200 per seat. Shipping it inside something you distribute is the NativeCAD Kernel SDK, $9,995. The two are separate products and are bought independently. Non-commercial, education, and evaluation use is free under the Non-Commercial License. Automatic Support is $499 a year on top of any plan, including the free one.

Using it

Education / Maker

Students, educators, research, unpaid personal projects, evaluation

$0

Free indefinitely for non-commercial use with a registered key; the evaluation loop needs no key at all.

  • Full kernel + viewer, the same code as every paid licence
  • Personal, academic & research use
  • Non-commercially-distributed OSS projects
  • 7-day commercial evaluation (with evaluation criteria + consent)
  • MCP plugin: free email-verified key from featureboard.ai/register — eligibility is self-certified (grant clause 9.4). Free keys always report failures and have no off switch
  • Kernel library (@nativecad/kernel, @nativecad/kernel-sdk): a license key is required; non-commercial keys are issued case by case — request one at support@featureboard.ai
  • Community support (e-mail, best effort)

Using it

NativeCAD MCP / Modeler

One named person designing with NativeCAD, driven by their own coding agent

$200 / seat / year

Flat. No metered agent compute and no usage component — grant clause 9.3.

  • Full kernel, nothing withheld, no per-module pricing
  • Commercial and revenue-generating design work
  • Geometry you produce is yours, unencumbered and royalty-free
  • Your agent, your model account — we are not in that path
  • Removes the "Powered by CADSolver" watermark
  • Seats are named, not floating (grant clause 9.2)
  • Carries no right to redistribute or embed the kernel

NativeCAD Kernel SDK

Embedding the kernel in an application, plugin, service, or device you distribute

$9,995 / year

One self-serve price for embedding. No developer count to declare and no per-product ladder.

  • Embed and redistribute the kernel in what you ship
  • Compiled kernel bundles; what you build on them stays private
  • Kernel, ops, viewer bundle, CLI and CAE exporters — one licence (the SDK API reference)
  • Removes the "Powered by CADSolver" watermark
  • 12 months of updates
  • Operative terms: grant clauses 1-7 in COMMERCIAL.md

Automatic Support

$499 / year, on any plan

An optional add-on, not a tier. Attaches to Education / Maker, an MCP / Modeler seat, the Kernel SDK, or custom terms.

Your support is answered by a coding agent with the whole NativeCAD source in front of it: on demand, 24/7/365, no queue, no office hours, no timezone. Paste the STEP file that tessellates with a crack and you get back a read of the actual kernel code that produced the crack — usually within a minute of asking, on a Sunday in December as readily as on a Tuesday morning.

Set that against the row it replaces. Support included with a paid licence is e-mail inside three business days; ask a question at 5pm on the Friday of a long weekend and the real answer is Wednesday. Automatic Support turns three business days into now.

A person is still behind it. Anything the agent cannot close — a kernel defect, a licensing question, a call only Lewis can make — is escalated with the full transcript attached, so you are never asked to re-explain your problem and restart someone else's clock.

  • 24 hours a day, every day of the year
  • Answers typically inside a minute, not a business day
  • Reads the source, so it answers about your code, not a manual
  • Escalates to a human with the transcript attached
  • Stacks on any plan, including the free one

What the tokens cost, and who pays for them

Automatic Support is answered by a coding agent, and a coding agent burns model tokens. Those tokens are our cost, not yours: the $499 buys the model usage as well as the answer, and you will never be asked for an API key, an account, or a usage top-up. The bundle is sized against real support load — a fair-use envelope of 30 conversations per licensed developer per month — and under that ceiling there is nothing to watch and nothing further to pay. Above it we do one thing: we show you the usage and agree the next bundle with you, at renewal. We do not meter you after the fact, bill overage you did not agree to, or cut you off mid-incident. If model prices move enough to matter, the bundle price can move with them at your renewal — never inside a term you have already paid for.

How the license actually works

One codebase, every tier

The free build is the full build. The kernel and viewer are fully functional with no license key at all, and nothing is feature-flagged by price.

The key does one thing

A paid license key removes the small "Powered by CADSolver" watermark the free tier shows in the viewer, and makes the commercial-use terms above apply to you. Validation is fully offline — no phone-home and no runtime kill-switch. Paid keys can turn failure reporting off with their licence.

You're paying for the right to ship, not for code you don't already have

The entire repository — kernel, ops, viewer bundle, CLI, CAE exporters — is one license, no per-module pricing.

How buying works

Both self-serve prices check out online and issue a key automatically. Custom / OEM terms are a conversation, because the price depends on your deployment.

1

Choose

A seat if you are designing with NativeCAD, the Kernel SDK if you are shipping it. Add Automatic Support to either by e-mail.

2

Pay

Card checkout via Polar, which is the merchant of record — Polar sells the licence and handles sales tax and VAT. Prefer invoice, wire, or a PO? Use the e-mail link on the plan instead.

3

Your key is e-mailed

A license key (CSLV1-…) is issued and sent automatically when the order completes — no waiting on a business day.

4

Or claim it yourself

Lost the e-mail? Claim the key at featureboard.ai/claim with your receipt e-mail address and order id. Pass it to setLicenseKey() to remove the free-tier watermark — nothing else changes at runtime.

Frequently asked questions

Do old MIT versions stay MIT?

Yes. Versions published under MIT remain MIT for those versions. This dual license applies from the version that carries it onward.

Is the licence perpetual? What happens if I don't renew?

No licence here is perpetual — every tier, free ones included, is a 12-month term (LICENSE §10; COMMERCIAL.md clause 3). Free tiers renew automatically at no charge while you stay eligible; paid tiers renew on payment. If a paid licence lapses, the right to use, embed, and distribute NativeCAD ends with it: you stop using it and remove it from your machines, and anything you shipped carries the same obligation down to your customers and theirs. Geometry and drawings you produced while licensed stay yours, unencumbered — the removal obligation reaches the software, never your output.

Who can't buy a licence?

Competitors. No licence — free or paid — is available to the Excluded Parties in LICENSE §9: Dassault Systèmes, Siemens, Autodesk, PTC (incl. Onshape), Ansys, Hexagon, Bentley Systems, and Trimble, among others named there, plus their affiliates, any other competitor, and the employees and contractors of any of them — in any capacity, personal or commercial. And whoever you are, publishing benchmarks or feature comparisons needs prior written consent, and using NativeCAD to build or train a competing product or model is prohibited (LICENSE §11).

Is internal business use "commercial"?

Beyond the 7-day evaluation, yes. Designing with NativeCAD for revenue-generating work needs a seat, one per person doing it. Building the kernel into a tool you then distribute — to customers, or to another company — needs the Kernel SDK.

What about open-source projects?

Free under the Non-Commercial License if the project is distributed non-commercially. If your OSS project is itself a commercial product's core, talk to us — OSS-friendly terms are available.

What about academic use?

Free, including funded research. Publication of results requires no license; shipping a commercial spin-out does.

Do I need a seat, the Kernel SDK, or both?

A seat if NativeCAD stays on your side of the line: you design with it and what reaches anyone else is geometry — STEP files, meshes, drawings, CAE decks. The Kernel SDK if a copy of NativeCAD ends up in someone else's hands as part of what you ship. Both, if both are true, because they license different things and are priced independently. The operative terms are grant clause 9 (seats) and grant clauses 1-7 (embedding) in COMMERCIAL.md.

Is Automatic Support really answered by an agent, or is that marketing?

An agent, and that is why the answer arrives at 3am on a Sunday instead of on Wednesday. A human is behind it for anything the agent can't close, and gets your full transcript when it escalates. See Automatic Support above.

Will Automatic Support ever cost me more than $499 a year?

Not inside a term you've already paid for. The model tokens the agent uses are our cost, not yours — no API key, no account, no usage bill. The full terms, including the fair-use envelope and exactly what happens if you run past it, are in the "What the tokens cost" panel above and in COMMERCIAL.md grant clause 8.

Does a paid license unlock extra features?

No. The kernel and viewer are fully functional on every tier — see "How the license actually works" above. A key only removes the attribution watermark and covers you for commercial use.

How do I get my license key after checking out?

Automatically. Polar confirms the payment and the key (CSLV1-…) is issued and e-mailed to the address on the order. If it hasn't arrived, claim it at featureboard.ai/claim with your receipt e-mail address and order id, or e-mail support@featureboard.ai directly.

Can I pay by invoice, wire transfer, or purchase order?

Yes, on either plan. Use the "Prefer invoice, wire, or a PO?" link next to it instead of the checkout button and we'll raise an invoice; the key follows on payment.

What if I need more seats?

Buy them: seats are $200 each and the checkout takes a quantity. A seat is named rather than floating, and can be reassigned when its holder durably stops using it (grant clause 9.2). The Kernel SDK has no developer count to exceed. There's no automatic overage charge or shutoff either way — staying within your licence's terms is what keeps it valid.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

E-mail support@featureboard.ai with your order id and we'll sort it out directly — there's no self-serve cancellation flow yet. Polar is the merchant of record, so the receipt and any refund come from Polar.
